Beaches Currently Posted & Advisories

For the week of:  January 17, 2017

Updated: January 19, 2017 at 7:43 P.M.

As a result of recent and predicted rainfall, the Environmental Health Division is advising the public to avoid body contact with ocean water at all beaches in Ventura County.  Storm water run-off has the potential to carry disease causing bacteria to the ocean and onto the beaches.  Contact with ocean water containing storm water run-off will result in an increased risk to human health.  This advisory will remain in effect for 72 hours after all rainfall has ended.

When warning signs are posted, body contact with ocean water should be avoided for a minimum of 50 yards on either side of each posted sign.  Beaches will remain posted until it has been determined by the Environmental Health Division that bacteriological water quality meets State standards.
