Compliance Status Of Retail Food Facilities

Patrons of retail food facilities in Ventura County can easily determine the compliance status of a facility through the Environmental Health Division’s (EHD) Food Protection Program. Features of this program that make it convenient for the public to determine the compliance status of a restaurant include:

On-line inspection results of routine and follow-up inspections are available on our website and by using our smart phone app. The results are searchable by business name, street, or city and note violations of the California Health and Safety Code found during the inspection as well as a description of the violation. The inspection results are updated each business day.

If significant violations are found during an inspection that could result in a foodborne illness, the food facility will be closed until the violations are corrected. If a facility is closed, the information regarding the closure is posted on the EHD Food Facility Closures web page.

After completing a routine inspection, the EHD inspector provides the facility owner/operator with an inspection placard, to be posted in public view, and an inspection summary report. This placard notifies the public that the facility passed the inspection and that the public can request to view the inspection report. Additionally, the placard identifies the date of the last inspection, the name of the inspector, and EHD contact information.
