Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs)
What is a MAC?
The Board of Supervisors of any county may, by resolution establish and provide funds for the operation of a Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) to advise the board on such matters which relate to that area. In unincorporated Ventura County. MACs serve as a valuable means of communicating for both local officials and the communities they represent. Each MAC is an advisory body of local citizens appointed by the Board of Supervisors with the purpose of representing the community’s interests to the Board on a range of local issues.
Although a MAC is a governing body, it has no fiscal authority. MAC meetings are a forum where information about land use, transportation, and general county information is shared discussed, and where MAC members may make recommendations on those topics to the Board.
For more information on the establishment and purpose of a MAC, see California Government Section Code 31010.
