Since adoption, Planning staff has been working on implementing programs identified within the Plan. A summary of what has been achieved since adoption is listed below.

2019:

  • Planning Staff assisted the Ventura County Public Works Transportation Department and Ventura County Transportation Commission to receive an Active Transportation Planning grant from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) for the Saticoy area which would focus on future mobility connections within Saticoy and connections to the Cities of Ventura and Oxnard.

2018:

  • The Saticoy Southern Pacific Railroad Depot is nominated for placement on the National Register of Historic Places. This nomination was approved by the State Historical Resources Commission on May 17, 2018 (OMB No. 10240018). (Program LU-P4(3))
  • An inter-agency action committee is developed within the County which includes staff from the County CEO’s office, District 1 office, the Planning Division, and the Public Works Agency Real Estate Services Division. The intent of this action committee is to discuss rehabilitation programs for the Saticoy Train Depot. In December 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved the expenditure of funds which were used to install security equipment and clean up the Train Depot site. (Program LU-P4(2))

2017:

  • Census Tract 13.02 which includes the Saticoy area is designated as an Opportunity Zone by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
