The Study and Action Plan will be conducted in the following five phases, which began in Fall 2021 and is anticipated to be completed by 2025.
Project Creation (COMPLETED)
Phase 1 – Create Advisory Council and Select a Survey Consultant (COMPLETED)
Phase 2 - Develop Survey Methodology and Design Surveys (COMPLETED)
Phase 3 - Survey Implementation (Ongoing)
Phase 4 - Farmworker Housing Study and Action Plan
Phase 5 - Community engagement in implementing the Action Plan
Project Funding
This collaborative Project is funded by a range of funding sources, such as the following.
- A Regional Early Action Planning (REAP) grant by the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) awarded to House Farm Workers! (Funded portion of Phase 1);
- A Local Early Action Planning (LEAP) grant by SCAG awarded to the County of Ventura (Funded portion of Phase 2);
- The County of Ventura, all ten cities within the county, the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC), and local funding sources. (Provided funding for the remainder of Phases 2 and 3); and
- A UC Thelma Hansen Fund Grant awarded to House Farm Workers! (Provides funding for a portion of Phases 3 and 4);
- A Sustainable Communities Program - Civic Engagement, Equity and Environmental Justice (SCP CEEEJ) Grant by SCAG awarded jointly to the County of Ventura and House Farm Workers! (Provides funding for a portion of Phases 4 and 5); and
- The remainder of Phases 4 and 5 is anticipated to be funded by the County of Ventura, other jurisdictions within the county, and through donations and grants from other stakeholders.
